Plant Waste Management and Reduction
We aim at all times to reduce, reuse and recycle.
- Incoming waste (such as plastic wrap protecting pallets of paper) is sorted into separate bins for recycling. Cardboard sheets used by the manufacturers to separate new printing plates are reclaimed and re-used in the making of portfolios to house proofs.
- Our pre-press systems are fully CTP, eliminating the need for film or film chemistry.
- Used Aluminium Plates, Low-waste Ink Cartridges, Paper, Cardboard, Glass, Plastic (degradable), Steel, Compact Disks, Computers, Monitors, Mobile Phones, Toner Cartridges and Timber Pallets are recycled for re-use
- Paper waste resulting from binding and trimming lines is removed though air suction from the building and stored in purpose designed, truck-mountable units for removal and recycling.
- All used solvents and oils are collected and recycled.
- Paper, Plastic and Metal recycling bins are located at work points through Lane’s administrative offices, pre-press, printing, binding and finishing lines.
- Energy and Water consumption are monitored, and consistent reductions are achieved.
- Computers, general lighting and other internal power items are turned off whenever possible.
